President of Montgomery Village Rotary Club David Zeff recently announced that a special, virtual, Rotary-sponsored, community event has been scheduled for Saturday, Nov. 14 from 6 to 8 p.m.
Making this program announcement, David noted, “Montgomery Village Rotary Club is excited to share our 1st Virtual Gala Event to continue raising awareness and funds for community charities. Each year for the past 7 years, Montgomery Village Rotary Club, along with its area partners in the Historic Emory Grove and Gaithersburg rotary clubs, we have marshalled the energy of community service minded individuals and businesses to show their support for the heroes in our lives. This past year—due to the pandemic—we had to cancel the annual Flags For Our Heroes event, but we continued to promote opportunities for giving through our Go Fund Me page, and now with a special event in the virtual land of Zoom.”
The evening will feature a silent auction, entertainment, testimonial speakers and more. Highlight acts include: the comedy of Robert Mac, winner of Comedy Central Grand Prize on “Laugh Riot”; the magic of Mark Phillips, winner of National Theater's "Star of Magic" Award; music by The 19th Street Band, a constellation of Americana, country and rock characterized by high energy and strong vocal harmonies; music by Bryan Frates, Rotarian and super‐talented singer/songwriter and performer from Portland, Maine; and, music by The Taylor Family Singers, an amazing locally-based family of soulful singers.
